Nothing is as precious as nature.

Our Southern Harz nature reserve

Relax in the countryside. Well-being for body and soul.

Situated between the town of Nordhausen in Thuringia and the neighbouring federal states of Lower Saxony and Saxony-Anhalt, the Southern Harz nature reserve contains unique natural environments, with the densely forested peaks of the Harz mountains and a varied gypsum karst landscape next door.

The unique Southern Harz karst landscape stands out for the incredible range of different landscapes and richness of flora and fauna. Walk through forests, mountain meadows full of wild flowers, steep-walled valleys and impressive karst rock formations. Experience at first hand the countless natural phenomena of karst rock, including steep gypsum rock slopes, sinkhole lakes and dolines, brook sinks or karst springs.

Enjoy the beauty of the Southern Harz nature reserve.
